Joe has been involved in trading commodities throughout his entire Ag career. His educational experiences include starting young farmer-marketing clubs and trading for his South Dakota beef and grain operations. Seeing the value that could be added to a farm business from trading, Joe made a mid-life decision to put his focus on commodity trading for other producers.

In 2006, Joe and his wife Carla started DairyVisor Inc. (DVI) with the goal of delivering professional commodity trading services to large Midwest grain and dairy operations. His trading philosophy has always been on the physical commodity hedge, using the futures markets, revenue insurance products, and farm programs for final cash price management. Joe and his team trade directly with many of the Western corn belt and Southern Canada grain processors, elevators, milk plants, and feed suppliers which allows them to have an expansive network of industry relationships in the commodity space.

On January 1, 2026, DVI merged with Pinion Risk Management. Joe is excited to incorporate the shared values and client service mission that both companies strive for.

In his free time, Joe spends time on his Harley Davidson with his wife Carla, enjoys time with his grandkids, and plays in his machine shop.
